Education Committee
The Education Committee coordinates the various educational activities offered at St. Nicholas'.
For Children and Youth
Children are a vital part of the health, joy, and future of our parish, and we welcome all young people as significant members of the St. Nicholas' family.
The Nursery is available for infants and young children during Sunday morning services, beginning at 9:15am.
Sunday School is offered for children preschool through high school following the morning worship service.
Following the Collect, preschool and elementary children leave for Children's Church in the Chapel. They lead their own worship, hear a Bible story, sing and pray before returning to their families.
Other Opportunities include attending or assisting with Vacation Bible School, helping with the Christmas Pageant, and serving as acolytes on Sundays. For questions or participation opportunities, please call 432-694-8856 or send an email to: stnicks@stnicksmt.org
Vacation Bible School
Faith through the Arts is a summer program that allows children, grades 1-8, to experience God's creative inspiration through the gift of the Holy Spirit. Activities include singing, handbells, baking, art, cross-stitch, poetry (hymn-text writing), and woodworking.
Our Faith through the Arts will be taking a sabbatical this summer due to preparations being made for our Diocesan Convention. VBS (Faith through the Arts) will return again next summer.
For Adults
Many opportunities exist to participate in our adult education ministries. For information, please call 432-694-8856 or send an email to: stnicks@stnicksmt.org.
Sunday Mornings
The Adult Class, led by the Rector, is based on Holy Scripture and the Christian life. Recently we have studied types of prayer, the historical and cultural context of the Old and New Testaments, and the disciplines that make up the Christian life.
Education for Ministry (EFM)
EFM is a four-year educational extension program that gives laypersons an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of scriptures, Church History, and Theology. Study groups meet to discuss and reflect on readings under the guidance of a mentor.
Wednesday Evening Study
This is a time for diversity and depth, learning and fellowship. Check the News items for current programs on Wednesday evenings.
Friday Faith Study Group
The Friday Faith Study Group meets every Friday at 10:00 am in the home of a parishioner for prayer, readings and a discussion. A lively group to which anyone is welcome.
