About our services
Worship is central to our life at Saint Nicholas’ – a joyful response to God’s goodness and love. Episcopal worship is based on the Book of Common Prayer. Just as most churches sing from the same book, we pray from the same book—which is based on the oldest public worship in the English language.
Every Sunday we celebrate the Holy Communion, following Jesus’ command to his disciples that we do this “in remembrance of him”. Our service, while dignified and ordered, is always a celebration of God’s love and graciousness.
Our music truly deepens and strengthens our worship. We are blessed with a marvelous music ministry under the brilliant leadership of Mr. Darryl Knapp, our Organist/Choirmaster.
The Prayer Book of the Episcopal Church in New Zealand sums it up very well when it says, “Worship is the highest activity of the human spirit… As Christians, whether we are engaged in the Church’s daily round of prayer and thanksgiving, or being touched by God at the turning points of our lives, we worship in response to the love of God, and out of love for one another. In worship we celebrate and make real that love, and it strengthens our commitment to Christ, each other, and those who stand in need. It is only as we care for each other and care for our neighbors that our regular worship makes sense. Love of God becomes love of neighbor.”
At the same time, trying to describe our worship is like trying to explain a beautiful sunset using only words. You really have to be there to appreciate and understand what is happening. Please join us to discover the depth, dignity, and joy of traditional Christian worship.
Many opportunities exist to participate in worship. For more information, please call 432-694-8856 or email stnicks@stnicksmt.org.
